John Cleese Is A Bad Girl! (by Guitar-8) |
Every time I think about that movie, I always laugh over John Cleese's character, Mr. Mersault. He's rude, sophisticated in the outside, but he's also a transvestite who loves to dress in ladies' clothes dancing to Donna Summer's Bad Girl! And when I hear Donna Summer's song, it reminds me of John Cleese.Another scene I liked was when they were in the limo, and a drugged Steve Martin describes his wife as being "Frisky!. He tells his wife to say that word as well as Mr. Mersault. The hotel manager loved that new word, "Frisky!".Years ago, I went to see <more> |
What a Trip! (by hershykissed26) |
This remake of a movie is funny! Steve and Goldie are a great on screen couple! They bounce off each other with their comedic timings. The antics that come about are hysterical! I love the car scene with the map - that could happen to anyone and I fear that it would happen to me one day if I rent a car like that! Let's not forget John Cleese! LOVE him! He is quite the "gay" man in this film - what an uproar he makes!!! His scene in the guest room with the fur coat and the high heals - makes you wonder how long it took him to learn how to walk let alone dance. This movie is a <more> |
What is everybody's problem? (by lilkbraptor15) |
This movie was great. I don't know why all of these people thought it wasn't good. If you haven't seen this movie, I advise that you should watch it. You will certainly laugh and you'll certainly have a lot of fun. Steve Martin is great, and so are Goldie Hawn and John Cleese.I rated it a perfect 10! |
A Funny, Funny Movie (by jtesto) |
I don't know why so many people are slamming this movie, I thought it was hilarious. Goldie Hawn, Steve Martin, and John Cleese make the movie very, very funny. A decent sense of humor is all one needs to laugh from beginning to end. |
A remake which outshines than the original! (by tenderlovingtony) |
After seeing the new version of "The Out-of-Towners," I rewatched the original the next day, and am of the firm opinion that the Steve Martin-Goldie Hawn version is not only one of the funniest movies this year, but an improvement over the original. Here's why: The Jack Lemmon-Sandy Dennis version suffered from poor pacing; a lot of screen time was wasted watching them walk in the rain, for example. The new version moves much more quickly and contains funnier gags. It's also a plus that the couple's children are grown and figure into the plot, replacing the quite young <more> |
Surprisingly funny (by Frank-177) |
Surprisingly funny movie with the dynamic duo Martin/Hawn.The movie brings to life the differences between the American cities and the countryside. Even if these exist, they are seldom brought up in the rest of the world. This plot gives a warm feeling inside and brings up real problems and thoughts with comic twist. |
This movie is funny! (by Soledad-2) |
Sorry to disagree with so many negative reviews. I have not seen the original with Jack Lemmon and I don't doubt the original is much better than the remake, but I feel the obligation to tell everyone that I really enjoyed this movie a lot, that I love Steve Martin and Goldie Hawn, who are in the list of my favorite actors, and that this movie is really funny. Therefore, I wish to recommend this version and I can assure you that you won't regret it. |
